The bustle in a house
The morning after death
Is Solemnest of Industries
Enacted upon earth;
The sweeping up the heart
And putting love away
We shall not want to use again
Until eternity.

It is with great sadness that I heard today of Jane’s passing. We first met in 1992 when she and husband Don hosted a social event in the garden of their lovely home in Elm Grove. In 2005, accompanied by children Nancy and Robert, she attended the banquet of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners in Montreal to accept an award on behalf of her husband who passed away earlier that year. Jane Doud will be remember not only as a talented and gifted artist but also as a bright, articulate and charming woman. May she rest in peace and God bless her family & friends.

I am sending you my deepest sympathies on the passing of Jane. She was a very inspirational woman in my years of growing up. From my art classes with her as a fourth grader and the many years after, when Nancy and I played together and shared many fun times in Don and Janes home. Your mom, Nancy, was a wonderfully special lady. I was very honored to have her in my life and you Nancy as a friend. She will be dearly missed.

I was so sorry to hear about Jane's passing. I knew Jane and Don for years and saw them every year at meetings of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners. Don was always helpful and encouraging through my early years as a document examiner - and Jane was always right by his side with her upbeat, go-get-em attitude. Jane and my husband Ralph would visit galleries while Don and I attended meetings, and she was a delight to know. Ralph and I will treasure our memories of them both.

Please accept my apologies for not attending the funeral as I was with my aging dad in MN all last week. Jane was in my thoughts all day last Tuesday. I will admire the two paintings of Three Lakes I bought from her forever. She was a special lady & I feel privileged to have known her.

Nancy,
Please accept our sincere condolences at your mother's passing. We were so glad to have shared dinner with you, Bill and your mother at the ASP Auction Dinner in February. She was a lovely lady and will be missed. May the memories you have help, over time, to ease your pain. Our best to your family.

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Jane when she was ill. She always maintained a lovely positive attitude no matter how she was feeling. It was an honor to meet such an inspiring woman with an obvious passion for art and life. My thoughts and prayers for her family. Jackie

Growing up in Wauwatosa, across the street from Jane and Donald on Ridge Court....I remember them fondly. Our families were close friends and we have a beautiful water color painting looking from the shore out over Planting Ground Lake in Three Lakes, that Jane completed for my parents...William and Anita Larson. Jane was a special person with a love for the arts. Thanks for the great memories.

Our prayers are with the family with Jane's passing. She was so kind to give us one of her paintings of a WI countryside. No matter where we have lived we always proudly had it hung. Peter enjoyed going with Jane to display her art in businesses and banks. She generously shared her love of art which has gone with us wherever we've gone

Mrs. Doud was an amazing person and the reason I love spending time looking at paintings. She inspired so many people with her infectious enthusiasm and love of Wisconsin art. My deepest sympathies and prayers are with your family.

To John, Nancy, Bob and families. Sending all my Love and many blessings to you in this very difficult time. I absolutly adore you all and have many special memories that I'll cherish forever. Your Mother was a very special woman with a smile that could light up the World. I remember our summer visits and sitting on the porch while she painted me...I wonder if that painting was ever finished (hAhA)

For Jane's Family, Your mother and grandmother, Jane was my first art teacher. I started studying with her when I was 10 and continued through high school. She had a lasting impact on me as at 70 I am still making art. Jane was the best of all teachers-knowledgeable, insightful, and encouraging. You have my deepest sympathy, Judith Bell Mayer

Dear Nancy and family,
Your mother was a wonderful person, talented and loving and I know that you and your family have suffered a great loss. I was honored to know your mother from the Woman's Club and I will think of her every time I use my booklet with her beautiful painting gracing the cover. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers.
With deepest sympathy,
Donna Vincent and family
