Lois Ann Haataja Notice
Haataja, Lois Ann "HI-LO" the Clown (Nee Raniszewski) Entered Eternal Life on May 21, 2013, at the age of 82. Resident of Thiensville. Loving sister of Eugene (Arlene) Ranney of Osprey, FL. Dear aunt of Mary Ellen (Matthew) Raymond, Joanne Mann, David (Mary Kay) Ranney, Paul (Karen) Ranney, Joan Hastreiter and Mariann Marksberry. Further survived by grandnieces and nephews as well as other relatives and good friends. Lois graduated from Marquette University and UWM and taught dental assisting and dental hygiene for 26 years at MATC. After retirement in 1991, she spent three summers at UW LaCrosse in the intensive one-week course in clowning. Her clown "HI-LO" the clown performed at birthday parties, fund raisers, nursing homes and senior events. For eleven years "HI-LO" marched in the Milwaukee Great Circus Parade and parades in Door County, Baraboo and Port Washington. Lois was a member of the Milwaukee L.A.F.T. Clown Club. Over the years Lois also performed with the Shorewood Opera Chorus, Milwaukee Choristers, Milwaukee Players and the Alverno College Theater Group. Lois' other interests included being a docent and archival researcher for the Pabst Theater, where in 1995, she was named Pabst Volunteer of the Year. Visitation will take place at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, Mequon, 2700 W. Mequon Rd. at Range line Rd. on Thursday, May 30, from 10:00 AM until the celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorials in Lois' name may be made to Kathy's House, 600 N. 103rd St., Milwaukee, WI 53226 or the National Foundation for Cancer Research.
