Adams, Dr. Mark B. Dr. Mark B. Adams left this world unexpectedly on May 24, 2007, of a cardiac arrhythmia, at home surrounded by love. He was 60 years young. He was known as a teacher of everything, to his residents, students, colleagues, friends, family and most of all, his children. He was an avid lover of nature. A true renaissance man, his hands were never idle. His pursuits included surgery, knitting, boat-making, hunting, camping, kayaking, fly fishing, wood working, reading, climbing, cross-country skiing, motorcycling, hiking and hugging his loved ones. The list goes on. He was intensely passionate about everything he did, becoming a master at whatever interested him. He was a man defined by complete intensity and focus intermingled with unpredictable silliness. He was survived by his parents Dr. Thomas and Marian Adams, of Bend Oregon, and his four siblings who loved him deeply. His clan included: Nicholas Adams, Rachel Adams Greenup, Cameron Adams, Kathleen Adams, Keeley Hanson Sorokti, Luke Hanson, Mollie Hanson, Laura Roberts, Helen Roberts, Willa Roberts, and Tommy Roberts. He was the proud grandpa of Jack "Jackers" Greenup and Thomas Sorokti. Dr. Adams was appointed Chairman of Surgery in 2003 after leading the division of Transplant Surgery for 17 years. In 2001, he was honored with a Distinguished Service Award, the school's highest honor, for his outstanding contributions to transplant surgery and national leadership status as a highly regarded medical educator and researcher. For detailed information on his distinguished career go to: The Medical College of Wisconsin will be holding a memorial Service on Thursday, May 31st at 4pm in Helfaer Auditorium at Froedtert Hospital to pay tribute to his life as a physician and surgeon. Services open for faculty and staff at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Froedtert Hospital, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and the Zablocki Veterans' Hospital and all other MCW affiliates. There will be a memorial service hosted by the family on Friday, June 1 at the Boerner Botanical Gardens, 9400 Boerner Drive, Hales Corners, WI 53130. Visiting hours will begin at 9AM with the service starting at 11AM. A reception will follow from 1-4PM at the Blue Mound Golf & Country Club, 10122 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa, WI 53226.
