Fridl, Richard J. "Dick" Born to Eternal Life on August 5, 2013, at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Florence (nee Merten) for 63 years. Father of Mary (Paul) Rampson, Cynthia (Mike) Gallagher, AnneMarie (Ken) Duveneck and Karen (Jim) Schlater. Grandfather of Peter Rampson; David (Carrie) and Jeff Gallagher; Peter and Ben Duveneck; Andrew, Joseph and Abigail Schlater; great - grandfather of Jack and Sidney Gallagher. Preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary, as well as three sisters and two brothers. Dick was a lifelong Milwaukee resident who graduated from Marquette University High School and Marquette University College of Engineering. He was a World War II Army veteran serving two years overseas in the China, Burma, and India Theater of Operations. He retired in 1991 as President of the Heil Company where he served the company for over 40 years. He also served on the boards of Artos Engineering, First Wisconsin Trust, Girl Scouts of Greater Milwaukee, UW Extension - Milwaukee and the San Camillus Foundation. Dick was an outgoing and deeply religious man, passionate in his support of Catholic education. He performed years of distinguished service to St. Pius X Church and Grade School and Divine Savior Holy Angels High School and served on the Advisory Board of the MU College of Engineering. He was recognized by the College with their Distinguished Alumnus of the Year Award in 1996 and also received the MUHS Alumnus of the Year Award in 2010. He was deeply committed to the Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh for over 50 years. Dick enjoyed golf with his buddies during the week and with Florence on Sundays both here and at their winter home in Florida. He especially loved family gatherings and celebrations that brought his children, grandchildren, relatives and friends together. He realized how special those times were and cherished them dearly. Dick also liked to travel and toured the world with Florence as well as being the driving force behind many wonderful family vacations with his daughters and subsequently their families. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 8 from 4:00 PM until the time of the family prayer service at 8:00 PM at Harder Funeral Home. A gathering will be held Friday, August 9 at ST. MARY'S VISITATION CHURCH, 1260 Church St., Elm Grove from 9:00 AM until the concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Entombment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, the Jesuit Retreat House, Marquette University High School, Marquette University College of Engineering or the charitable organization of choice are appreciated.
