Schulte, William J., M.D. Aged 83 was born to Eternal Life on June 19, 2012. Beloved husband of Helen (Pszybylski). Dearest father of Marie (Robert Gavahan), William John III (Michele), James (Liesel Whitney), David (Rose Firle), Thomas (Tracy), Stephen (Mary) and Joseph (Tesa Santoro). Fond grandfather of Magdalena, Peter, Hannah, Rebecca, Rachael, Aubrey, Truman, Elora, Samantha, Adam, Elizabeth, Stephen and Alysa. Brother of Edward and Donna. Further survived by many relatives and friends. Preceded in death by parents, Marie and William Schulte and sisters, Patricia Phillips, Betty Jane, Dorothy and Carol. He will be greatly missed. Born in Stryker, Ohio in 1928, William received his undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo and his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He served his country as a Captain in the Army from 1957-59. William completed his surgical residency at the Milwaukee County General Hospital. He served as the Chief of Surgery at the V.A. Medical Center and was simultaneously a professor of surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. At Froedtert Hospital, he established the Bariatric Surgery Program. Additionally, William was the president of the Association of VA Surgeons (1990-91) and the Wisconsin Surgical Society (1996) and was an active member of numerous scientific and medical societies. William was a man of many interests including gardening, fishing, Civil War history and participation in his children's activities such as Boy Scouting and soccer. Visitation Friday June 29, at the Funeral Home from 4 PM until the time of Vigil Service at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 734 Glenview Avenue, Wauwatosa. In lieu of flowers, memorials in William's name appreciated to St. Jude the Apostle Grade School or the Medical College of Wisconsin.
