Carl F. Singer

Notice Condolences

Singer, Carl F. Age 85. Died Nov. 28, 2011, after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Milwaukee Oct. 4, 1926. Preceded in death by his daughter Mary Singer (who died in a 1978 auto accident). He is survived by Rosalie Singer (Marchese), his wife of 62 years; son Jim and daughter-in-law Brett Singer of Tallmadge, OH; granddaughter Rebecca (Eric) Metz of Kent, OH; brother Ralph Singer of Milwaukee; brother Norman and sister-in-law Dietlinde Singer of Bonn, Germany; sister-in-law Nancy (Glenn) Grundmann of Kokomo, IN; brother-in-law Patrick (Angeleene) Marchese of Mequon; seven nephews, a niece and cousins. Carl was a veteran of WWII. Inducted just as the war was ending, he was stationed in Austria and served in the U.S. Army of Occupation. Carl was a graduate of Marquette University and a CPA. He spent much of his career in university administration and retired 20 years ago as VP of Business & Finance at Marquette University. In retirement, Carl served on the City of Glendale Planning Commission and on the Wisconsin State Coordinating Council for AARP. He was an avid Marquette basketball fan and long-time season ticket holder. Carl enjoyed golf and played in several senior leagues. He was also a member of the Wisconsin Club. Before he died, Carl dedicated his body to the Medical College of Wisconsin. Loving husband, father and provider, he was our rock and foundation for decades. Even though Carl is no longer physically present on this earth, his legacy and spirit lives on and will always be with us. A Memorial Service will be held at a time and place to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carl's name to Alexian Village of Milwaukee or Marquette University.
