Turano, Katherine "Kay" Katherine "Kay" Turano, age 92, passed with grace and beauty from this world to the next on Sunday, December 4th surrounded by the love of family and friends. Kay had a long association with Marquette University that began as a volunteer working for Fr. John J. Walsh, S.J. and the Marquette University Players. With her usual energy and enthusiasm she took on the task of organizing a children's program that resulted in memorable productions of Peter Pan, the King and I and Oliver Twist. Her volunteer work led to a distinguished career as executive secretary to three consecutive Marquette University presidents: Fr. Edward J. O'Donnell, S.J. Fr. William F. Kelly, S.J. and, for twenty five years, Fr. John P. Raynor, S.J. She was also honored to be a member of Alpha Sigma Nu. Throughout her life, she delighted family and friends with her musical talent, her fabulous food, and her distinctive hats. Kay is survived by her children, Marika, Joseph and Michael, her grandchildren, Timothy, James, and Joseph, and her great grandchildren Aidan and Emma. Visitation Friday, December 9, 2011, from 9 AM until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at GESU CHURCH (12th and West Wisconsin Avenue). Private interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gesu church.
