Cindy Manlove Notice
Manlove, Cindy Cynthia Lou Manlove, age 61, of Shorewood, died Friday, March 14, 2014, after a hard-fought 15-month battle with lung cancer. Cindy was born on August 20, 1952, to Robert and Shirley (DeFreece) Manlove in Freeport, Illinois. In 1959 the family moved to Appleton, Wisconsin, where she spent her youth. Cindy was a proud graduate of Appleton-West (1970), UW-Eau Claire (1974), and Marquette University Law School (1997). Her relentless advocacy for the rights of others led to employment with Job Service and the State Employee's Union. Once a lawyer, she worked for the U.S. Postal Service, the Potowatami Indian Tribe, and in private practice. Cindy was a loving, caring, and kind individual whose enthusiasm for life created many memorable moments. Family was of utmost importance to her, as she lovingly guided her two sons through life's many adventures. She cherished the times spent with relatives, especially at her cottage on Berry Lake. Planning family reunions, playing cards and games, and enjoying the water were all part of the fun! Music was an important part of Cindy's life, and she sang in many church and community choirs. Her keen mind and excellent problem-solving abilities helped out both family and friends when they frequently sought her advice. Cindy's courage, determination, and sense of humor allowed her to share her final year with many, including a much-anticipated appearance at her niece's wedding on March 8th. She greatly appreciated all the family, friends, and medical staff whose messages, prayers, and expertise supported and cared for her this past year. Cindy is survived by her sons Greg Manlove and Dean Manlove of Milwaukee; her sister Christine (David) Hartman of Appleton, and her brother Jeff (Kathy) Manlove of Trevor; nieces and nephews Brian (Collette), Megan (Jeremiah), Vanessa, Olivia, and Victoria, and her faithful canine companion Mr. Pockets. She is further survived by an AFS son Carlo (Italy), her AFS sister Rohini (Sri Lanka), and foster daughter Carol Luetkens. She was particularly close to her cousins and their families in Minnesota, Virginia, and New Jersey, as well as her many friends in the Single Adoptive Parent Group of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by her parents. Family will greet friends on Saturday, March 22, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Feerick Funeral Home followed by a service honoring Cindy's life at 3:00 PM. Interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cindy's children, c/o Christine Hartman and mailed to the Feerick Funeral Home.
