Josephine "Jo" Saiia Notice
Saiia, Josephine "Jo" Passed away peacefully on April 14, 2014, at the age of 92. Josephine was born in Cosensa, Italy in 1922. She came to the United States on her 4th birthday and grew up in Portland, Oregon. Josephine was preceded in death by her loving husband Carl and her parents, Joe and Adelina Orlando. Josephine was the dear mother of Caroline (Michael) Clark of Madison, Anthony (Kathy) of Mequon and Joseph (Barbara) of Delafield. She was very proud of her 7 grandsons, Andy (Cindy) Saiia, Louis (Anja) Clark, Peter (Beth) Saiia, Matthew (Sarah) Saiia, Brady Clark, Brian (Megan) Saiia and Brett (engaged to Ellen Seeburger) Saiia. She is also the great grandmother of Owen, Jack, Lauren, Natalie and Max. Josephine is also survived by her loving sister Rose Green and brother Gabriel (Carolyn) Orlando, both of Portland, Oregon and sister-in-law Alice Saiia. She was a special aunt to Connie (Michael) Livingston, Tina (Jack) Hanselman, Michael Orlando, Craig (Carol) Green, Brad (Cheri) Saiia, Sandra (engaged to Mark Strike ) Saiia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, S. 58th St. and W. Forest Home Ave. on Monday, April 21, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 AM until time of Mass. Private entombment Holy Cross Cemetery. Josephine met her husband in Portland during WWll. They moved to Milwaukee in 1946 where she dedicated herself to supporting her husband in business and raising her family. She was an outstanding cook, an accomplished watercolor painter and a very supportive grandmother. She dedicated a cookbook to her grandsons and also published recipes in several Ellis Island publications. She was an active member at Our Lady of Lourdes parish and Saint Mary Czestochowa parish. The family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the staffs of Seven Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Horizon Hospice for their kindness and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Salvation Army or your preferred charity are appreciated.
