Robert D. "Bob" Lewis Notice
Lewis, Robert "Bob" D. Of Mequon died on June 13, 2014 surrounded by his loving children at the age of 86 from cancer. He was born in Escanaba, Michigan to Mathew and Virginia Lewis: one of 7 children. He is preceded in death by 3 brothers and is survived by 2 brothers, William and Francis and his sister, Eileen. Bob lost his first wife, Theresa St. Cyr of Escanaba who died of cancer at the age of 50. They had five children, Bob, Jr. (Cheryl) Jane, (Terry Rice) Sue, (Brett Lein), David, (Maureen) and Glenn (Liza). He was a beloved "Papa" to 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and a "favorite uncle" to many nieces and nephews. Grandchildren: Matthew, Wyatt, Kevin, (Jill) Michael, (Katie) Robert, Carly, Bryce, Jake, Timothy, James, Carolyn, Chandler, McKenna, Hunter, Colin. Great- grandchildren: Charlie and Henry. Bob is also survived by Peg, his wife of 32 years and her daughter, Beth (Erich Wronski) and son, Lee Hall (Carol Marra ) plus two grandchildren Kyle and Brooke. All his grandkids adored "Papa" and the shared laughter with each of them is eternal. They all learned to live life with a young and playful heart, as Bob did. Soon after WWII, Bob served in the Pacific as a surveyor before attending Marquette University. Upon graduation, he was in sales with Commerce Clearing House. Bob's passions included skiing, remodeling, and construction which included building a new house on Little Cedar Lake where he, Peg and the family watched many a sunset for 20 years. His passion and creativity also included extensively remodeling a miner's home in the Upper Michigan ski country. The "Ludwig Haus" has been enjoyed for years by the family for skiing and vacations plus many friends who also have been there for skiing, hiking, parties and fall color. His family and friends will dearly miss his funny quips and delightful sense of humor. In the last few years, he had great fun using his creativity to make lamps and artist pieces from the many shells he collected in Florida. He LOVED LIFE and lived it well!! The family will greet friends on Tuesday, June 17, at St Eugene Catholic Church, 7600 N. Port Washington Rd, in Fox Point from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, with a Memorial Mass celebrated at 11:00 AM. In loving memory of Bob, donations in his name may be made to Horizon Home Care and Hospice, 13111 N. Pt. Washington Rd, Mequon WI 53092 or Riveredge Nature Center, PO Box 26, Newburg, WI 53060. The family wishes to thank Horizon Home Care and the Lawlis Family Hospice for their dedicated staff and caregivers who have been such a help with end of life care.
