1927 - 2014 Notice Condolences
Weiss, George Jr. Entered his Eternal Home and reunited with his wife of 58 years, Anna M. Weiss, on July 11, 2014, at the age of 87. Loving father of Katherine Weiss and Susan, husband Daniel, Eick. Loving and proud "Opi" grandfather of Stephen George Eick and Joseph Henry Eick. Also survived by his brother Henry and Dorothy Weiss and brother-in-law, Henry and Ann Koller. Survived by family and friends here and in Germany and Hungary. Preceded in death by his parents George and Katherine Weiss. George was born on April 18, 1927 in Felsonana, Hungary. After World War II, he lived in Germany and immigrated to the United States in 1949. George was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was owner of United Mason Contractors Inc. and Weiss Home Builders for many years. He was known for his arch work and quality masonry work and completed many residential and commercial buildings in the greater Milwaukee area. George was on the Germanfest Board for 33 years and served as Vice President of Entertainment and then President and Treasurer for many years. He also played the tuba and bass fiddle in Hungary and Germany. In Milwaukee, he played with the Milwaukee Zither Club and for over 50 years with the Johnny Hoffmann band. He was a member of the Milwaukee Donauschwaben and St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church, Milwaukee. George was an avid sheepshead player enjoying many years of card playing with his friends at the Schwabenhof and the Brookfield Senior Center. "You never know what it is good for " Visitation Thursday, July 17 at the Funeral Home from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM Prayer Service. Visitation also on Friday, July 18 at WISCONSIN MEMORIAL PARK CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield from 10:00 AM until the time of Service at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Wisconsin Lutheran High School Gifted for Praise or The Make a Wish Foundation.
