Allan Pyne Obituary

Pyne, Allan F. Of Brookfield, Wisconsin passed away peacefully from the arms of his cherished family into the loving arms of his LORD on Jan. 9, 2009. Born Aug. 31, 1926, in St. Petersburg, FL, to William and Christene Pyne, Allan is survived by his wife, Lois, their five children, Richard, Dale, Cindy, Marie Lewis and Terri Stair, 10 grandchildren, 2 sisters Dorothy Springer and Margaret Petersen, and 2 brothers William and Neil. Allan served in the US Navy from 1944-1946. Although he was an accomplished and recorded singer -guitarist, Allan had to change his favorite tune, "I'll Be a Bachelor Till I Die," when he met and fell in love with Lois Wingate whom he married in January, 1953. The family recognizes this as one of few times Allan ever changed his mind. He later wrote a song for Lois called "Million Dollar Baby". Allan learned the wood flooring trade in New York then moved to Milwaukee in 1949 where he started Sunshine Flooring Company. Through the years Allan became recognized nationally for his Artisan level craftsmanship and design of custom wood floors like the one he created for the historic Milwaukee Grain Exchange. Allan received numerous national awards recognizing his extraordinary talents. He loved his work and at 82 would not consider retiring. His final job was completed just weeks ago. Chuck Crispin, of BirgerJuell Floors in Chicago, IL said, "His creative energy and dedication to the craft that he mastered, and took such tremendous delight in teaching, has been my great inspiration. I am going to miss his counsel, his wry sense of humor and his boundless affection. Allan was an exacting master, a wood floor guru of the nth degree. It was my very great privilege and pleasure to learn my craft, on my knees, by his side." All who knew Allan recognized him as a man with dry humor, a true Samaritan who would give freely to anyone in need, friend or stranger. A strong man with purpose, commitment, and resolve, a loving husband and father, a true example of character and integrity, Allan has headed home. His forwarding address is recorded in The Book of Life. John 3:16 Visitation and Memorial services will be held Sat., Jan. 17, at Elmbrook Church, 777 S. Barker Rd., Brookfield, WI 53405. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:50AM, with Memorial Service at 11AM.

Al was my fathers boss at Sunshine Flooring. My dad taught Al the flooring business in NY. He asked my father numerous times to move to WI to work for him. We moved to WI in 1955. Al helped dad to build our home in Waukesha. My dad Edward Lattari was killed in an accident April 1965. Al and Lois were there to help the family. Lois actually drove my mom, us 5 kids and our dog to NY when we finally moved back to NY August of 1965. I am the oldest child, and I use to babysit Al & Lois's children. The only names I remember of the children are, Ricky, Dale & Cindy. I will never forget how he & Lois helped us. I found out about their passing online about 1 year ago. My mom passed Feb. 21,2009. Your dad & mom will always have a special place in my heart. I am now 76 yrs old.

Alan was my Dad's boss. When my dad died in 1965,Alan and his wife Lois helped us in many ways to get through the loss. My dad & Alan go back a long way, and he was the reason we moved to WI. My dad, Eddie Lattari and Alan were very good friends, they helped each other in many ways. I also babysat for Alan's children. Alan died 2 months before my Mom.

My greatest condolences to Lois and the entire Pyne family at the loss of Allan, but my heart knows that he is free of all pain and in the glorious presence of our great Lord.
I can actually picture Allan now, holding a cup of coffee, speaking in his low gruff voice, trying to convince St. Peter that the Pearly Gates are fine but the streets really should be made of Brazilian Cherry, not gold! And knowing Allan, he just may end up doing some renovations in Heaven and enjoying every minute of it.
I was blessed to know Allan for nearly 16 years and be a member of his loving family. His annual visits will be well remembered and greatly missed.

I'm so sorry for this great loss, but I'm also smiling because Mr. Pyne is now home. (I suppose I could use his first name now, but it just wouldn't feel right!) He was always good to me-a little counsel here, a little correction there, that great dry humor...
He loaned me his car (once), drove me to their home after I had 4 teeth pulled (because I was drugged and in need of parental figures), sanded a floor in my old house -- and basically allowed himself to be imposed upon. I always loved visiting Mr. and Mrs. Pyne and wish we'd been able to visit more recently. More important, however, is that I was blessed with the privilege of knowing him, and for that I'm very grateful. Brian liked Mr. Pyne right away, and was also thankful he had the chance to visit him and see examples of his awesome craftsmanship!
I know God's great goodness will comfort his family.
