O'Neill, James P. Entered into Eternal Life on August 14, 2010, at the age of 82. Longtime resident of Whitefish Bay. Best friend and beloved husband for 58 years of Dorothy (nee Meyers) O'Neill. Loving father of John (Maureen), Colleen (Michael) Johnson, James (Julie), Bridget and Patrick (Carol) O'Neill. Proud grandpa of John, Erin Lucille, Rose, Anne and Patrick O'Neill. Dear brother of the late Mary Ellen (Herbert) O'Connor, Fr. John O'Neill, Alfred O'Neill and Joan Schulte. Survived by sister-in-law Gerry O'Neill, brother-in-law Jean Schulte, and dear family friend Jane Speerschneider. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends. James was a graduate of Saint Thomas College and went on to receive his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1951. He was admitted to the Wisconsin and Minnesota Bars in 1951 and was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in 1961. Before his retirement, he was the Senior Partner of O'Neill, Schimmel, Quirk & Carroll. James served his country as a Major in the Wisconsin Air National Guard and a Liaison Officer for the Air Force Academy. He was a member of Delta Theta Law Fraternity, American College of Trial Lawyers, American Board of Trial Advocates, International Society of Barristers, Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, Member of American, Wisconsin and Milwaukee Bar Associations, Best Lawyers in America, The Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Association of Defense Trial Attorneys, the Federation of Insurance and Corporate Counsel and lecturer on trial practice for the continuing legal education section of the Wisconsin and Milwaukee Bar Associations. James was also a longtime Trustee of Old St. Mary Parish and a member of the Milwaukee Athletic Club. Visitation will take place on Friday, August 20, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Feerick Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, at 9:00 AM, at Old St. Mary Catholic Church, 836 N. Broadway, corner of Broadway and Kilbourn Ave., Milwaukee. Interment will be private for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials in James' name may be made to Old St. Mary Parish or Marquette University Law School, P.O. Box 1881, Milwaukee, WI 53201-1881.
