Laurie Kay Link Notice
Link, Laurie Kay Age 54, went home to be with Jesus, finally healed of cancer on September 23, 2010. She passed away at her own home in the arms of her family. Her life was one of love and laughter, always caring for others. Well loved by many - she will be truly missed, but never forgotten. Laurie Kay Ramstack was born in Milwaukee, WI, on August 6, 1956. She was the middle child of eight brothers and sisters born to Rudolph and Catherine Ramstack. During her senior year in high school she married Joseph Alan Link on October 19, 1973. She had her teachers call her "Mrs. Link" the rest of that year! She graduated from East Troy High School in 1974. Laurie and Joe have been married for 36 years and have 3 beautiful daughters, Sunny (Jason) Duff, Amy (Matthew) Austin and Kate Link. After Laurie and Joe were married, they moved to Westfield, WI. Laurie began her social work career while working for Oxford Convalescent Home. She helped to relocate the residents when that facility closed. Daughter Sunny was born in 1977, Amy in 1978. After the girls started school, Laurie then worked for Divine Savior Nursing home for several years before the family moved to Milton, WI. When Kate was born in 1986, Laurie stayed home for several years to raise her family. Always there for her girls, Laurie created a warm, loving home that was open to family and friends. Many parties were held at the Link house! When Kate started school Laurie worked as a kitchen and bath designer for Fish Building Supply in Fort Atkinson, WI. She loved gardening and would spend many hours designing, planting and weeding! Friends always knew Laurie would be good for garden advice and a cutting or two. A defining moment of Laurie's life came when she and Joe both accepted Jesus as their Savior in 1982. Her faith was what made Laurie who she was. Because of her love for Jesus, she was a gift to others. Her relationship with Jesus was what carried her through the toughest times of life. In 1994 Laurie was diagnosed with the movement disorder, Dystonia. Despite the debilitating effects, she was determined to live her life to the fullest. She was always willing to lend a hand or an ear, to anyone who needed help. Her willingness to give and love has inspired many. In 2005 she underwent brain surgery to have a DBS stimulator implanted. She was then able to walk without a back/neck brace for the first time in years. Life was good for several years until August of 2007, when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Through all of this she loved and doted on her 4 grandkids, Sarah (5), Jack (5), Joey (3) and Emma (2). "Grammy" made up the best stories, she will be terribly missed. Laurie is survived by her parents, Rudy and Kay Ramstack and her siblings, Becky (Clyde) Klemowits, Curt Ramstack, Monnie (Mike) Schrader, Jay Ramstack, Roberta Gray, Karen (Harry) Poulos, Guy (Brenda) Ramstack and Chris Ann (Mike) Zajdel. She is also remembered by 22 nieces and nephews, and many friends. Because of the caring staff of HospiceCare Inc., we were able to honor Laurie's request to be at home during her final days on earth. Special thanks to her nurse Ellen. As longtime member of New Life Assembly of God, Laurie's memorial service and celebration of her life will be held there on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at 6:00 PM. Visitation will be from 3PM to 6 PM, 2416 North Wright Road, Janesville, WI. Private burial. Henke-Clarson Funeral Home is assisting the family. www.henkeclarson.com
