M. Keith Helland

Helland, M. Keith Age 80, of Cherokee Village, AR, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012, in Batesville, AR. He was born May 1, 1932 at Ellendale, MN, to Herman and Gladys (Mayland) Helland. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, while stationed in Hawaii with FASRON117. He was a Milwaukee Public School teacher for over thirty years and a member of the Cherokee Village Lutheran Church, the Elks Lodge #2539, and a former volunteer firefighter. He was a devoted and dedicated husband to Maureen (Connors) Helland for over 53 years. The lessons he taught will never be forgotten. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Gordon, Grant, and Gene Helland; and 2 sisters, Elayne Bellrichard and Pearl Sanders. He is survived by his wife Maureen (Connors). He was the proud father of Kevin (Linda) of Hartford, WI, Craig (Michele) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Neal of Milwaukee, WI. He was an especially proud father of Leslie Thiele (Jeff) of Milwaukee, WI and Grandpa to Matthew, Michael, Rachel, Erik, Ryan, and Sam. Memorial Services will begin Wed., June 20, 2012, at 1:00 PM, at the Cherokee Village Lutheran Church located in Cherokee Village, Arkansas, with Pastor Joan Ewaldsen officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherokee Village Lutheran Church Columbarium. All arrangements are by Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland, AR.
