It seems like ancient history, but sometime during my grad school year of 1978-1979 a couple members of the band Axe became my next door neighbors. I'm pretty sure they were Teddy and Bobby Barth. Definitely Teddy. We got to be friendly and I went to a couple Axe rehearsals (they were quite good.) But what I really remember is that Teddy would come over to hang with my roommates and I a few times. I had a mutt dog at the time and I was quite touched that this young man who truly looked like a rock god was some friendly and loving with my little dog. Teddy was so strikingly handsome that I never would imagine that a rock and roll musician like that could be so kind and gentle. I just found out today that he is no longer with us but I am comforted by reading these messages. Teddy is clearly missed by many and I will never forget him.

My husband and I met Teddy in the late 70s in Gainesville, Florida when he was with Axe. We remained friends throughout the years. My heart aches that he went through such pain and suffering. I pray he's at rest now with the Lord. Teddy, we love you.

I met Teddy back in the late '60's. Hung around with him through the Tongue Band years then we kinda lost touch. Just by coincidence one night in the early '80's I went to a local venue to see 'Badboy'. As I watched the band..I realized Teddy was drumming!! It was so great to see him again....never saw him after that except for a preview in a rented movie (My Cousin Vinnie) had a little ad in the beginning for Universal Studio's (I'm pretty sure). And there was Teddy!!! Today, I remember what a special person he was and regret not reconnecting in these later years. I'll miss you Teddy...you're playing the BIG GIG now!!! Love you man.

Dear GOD,
Please wrap your ever loving arms around this man and take special care of him. He was so special to so many.

If tears could build a stairway
And memories were a lane,
I would walk right up to heaven
To bring you home again.
No farewell words were spoken.
No time to say good-bye.
You were gone before we knew it,
And only God knows why.
My heart still aches in sadness
And secret tears still flow.
What it meant to lose you,
No one will ever know.

?MY DEAR SWEET TEDDY, IT'S BEEN A WEEK SINCE YOU WERE CALLED HOME TO HEAVEN, IT SEEMS LIKE A LIFETIME! I HAVE MISSED YOU SO VERY MUCH MORE THAN WORDS CAN CONVEY!! I KNOW YOU ARE IN A BETTER PLACE, AND WE WILL BE REUNITED WHEN IT'S MY TURN, BUT, I STILL MISS YOU MORE THAN I CAN EXPRESS! I ALWAYS PRAY FOR YOUR MOM AND SISTER, I KNOW ALL TOO WELL WHAT THEY ARE GOING THROUGH SINCE YOU HAVE GONE! EVEN WITH ALL YOU'VE BEEN GOING THROUGH... YOU STILL TRIED TO HELP OTHERS. YOU WERE SUCH A TALENTED, CARING, PASSIONATE, PERSON WITH A HUGE HEART, AND HOPE FOR A BETTER WORLD FOR PEOPLE AND ANIMALS! YOU ALWAYS USED TO SAY, "ALL YOU NEED IS *LOVE*LOVE*LOVE*!" AND YOU NOT JUST TALKED ABOUT IT... YOU LIVED IT! THANK YOU FOR TEACHING ME BY EXAMPLE, TO SEE THE GOOD IN EVERYTHING, AND FOCUS ON THAT, INSTEAD OF DWELLING ON THE BAD HAND YOU GET DEALT IN LIFE! NOW THAT YOU HAVE YOUR WINGS MY ANGEL, FLY FREE AND KNOW THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO ARE BETTER FOR JUST HAVING KNOWN YOU, AND THEY ARE YOUR LEGACY.YOU WILL ALWAYS BE GREATLY MISSED... BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN, DEARLY REMEMBERED BY ALL WHO KNEW YOU! REST IN PEACE, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. ALL MY LOVE ALWAYS AND FOREVER! ? *?*

I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Teddy in his home about a year ago. It was the first time I had ever flown anywhere but Teddy was there to encourage me to live a little. While there I met some of his wonderful friends at the zoo "including people ha'" Going to the zoo in 10° weather was an experiance and coming from Texas where it never snows was a change for sure. But Teddy just said "it's all about layers" and off we went, not could stop him from seeing his animal friends plus the workers who cared for them. I remember walking into the area where the Lions were and as soon as they saw Teddy it was obvious they knew him. I was amazed!!! Teddy told me stories of his life and where he had been, amazing in itself. He spoke to me about his friendships with so many that meant so much to him. We watched his favorite movie Arthur, he could quote word for word lol. He would always say " I have died several times and don't know why he was still around" He turned up the radio as loud as it would go and said " listen" the music started and he closed his eyes, the song Battles by Axe was playing. I sensed he was ready to go at that time, that he was tired of knowing what was to come. I had the honor of meeting his mother, she was a wonderful lady that I will never forget. Joplin was such a fat furry little thing but the sweetest cat, Teddy loved having her there with him. I will never forget Teddy Mueller, I learned so much and will miss his raw humor, caring heart for others.

I have so many fond memories of the times we spent in Green Lake and later Milwaukee. Teddy always spoke highly of his friends and seemed to have the ability to bring out the best from everyone around him. I met so many wonderful people through Teddy and he made everyone feel special regardless of their status in life. Even when he was down because of his worsening condition, he still found time to talk or post. I will greatly miss your friendship from throughout the years, but look forward to the time we meet again. RIP Teddy

I've known Teddy since the early 80's when he was dating the beautiful Marna (RIP). We kept in contact off & on while we both lived in LA, and then back home again in WI. He was a great help to me when I built my first home. Teddy was a great musician, and a very kind hearted man. He will be missed.

I first met Teddy in the 80's and I just listened to a fun song he sang on called "Drive my car" that was recorded at our home the night he left WI for NY. We reconnected back in 2011 when we made a trip together to the zoo and been talking ever since. Teddy has been an inspiration and encouragement to me. He was a gentle soul. I will never forgot you Teddy. I feel blessed that we found each other again. Thelma, you raised a wonderful son and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Teddy is flying with the angels now and part of the music in heaven. xxxooo (Remember the stuffed lion sent in the mail?)

Teddy was one of the " tigerteers" along with Zookeeper Valerie, Cindy B. and Mary K. He was very dear friend/ owner of Joplin, who will miss him terribly. We became friends as frequent zoo goers, especially Nuri and Tula's enclosure. Themba, the lion and Teddy enjoyed many fun times. Ruth, the elephant would wave back at only Teddy. He missed so many things that he loved but made the best of an illness that was taking a part of him bit by bit. Love, Love, Love Teddy, Mary OOOOOxxxxxx

I first encountered Teddy in 1982 whilst he was touring with Axe as an opening act for Ozzy Ozbourne. Teddy was a mentor and a friend and played a huge role in my success as a professional musician. His gentle spirit was always the magnet for our friendship through good times and bad over the next 29 years. Anyone who truly knew Teddy understood, loved and protected his childlike heart. That is the heart I will miss and always remember. Rest my brother...we will meet again.

I was first introduced to Teddy via his work with the band AXE. Living in England at the time, I picked up the records on import & after re-locating to Milwaukee in 1983 met him several times. He was a gentle soul who wanted nothing more than to share his friendship with whomever, whether through images or words. He will be sorely missed. Rock On, Teddy.

I am so thankful to have know Teddy for the past three years, though the day I met him we hit it off and it seemed as if we had known each other for decades. He was the most genuine person I had ever met. A talented musician who was also funny, feisty, compassionate and sensitive. His love and appreciation for music and nature, his true concern for people and animals, his kindness, a rarity in this day and age, all these things defined Teddy's character. He will be missed dearly by the many who loved him.
