Tabat, Joseph G. Of North Prairie died peacefully on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at the age of 86. Joe was born on May 25, 1926, in Ottawa, the son of John and Minnie Tabat. He was raised on the family farm in Ottawa and graduated from Oconomowoc High School. Joe married Norma (Stern) on October 26, 1946, and together they raised 5 children in North Prairie, WI. Joe retired from Tabat Electric and Heating, a business he founded and operated for more than 20 years. He was a long term, faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church and active in his community serving as Assistant Fire Chief, President of the Athletic Association, and little league baseball coach. Joe enjoyed gardening, bowling, and golf. He was an avid sportsman. He trapped, fished, hunted and shot his last of many deer and turkeys at the age of 85. He will be sadly missed by Norma, his wife of 66 years; children, Cheryl (Richard) Hunn of Waukesha, Dawn Tabat of New Berlin, Debra (Hari) Cheema of Pennsylvania, Timothy Tabat of North Prairie, and Todd (Sue) Tabat of Ottawa; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Joe was loved and will be remembered by other relatives and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Ralph, Robert, and Fabian (Tex). Visitation will be TODAY, Tuesday, November 27, 2012, from 4:00PM until 7:00PM at St. John's Lutheran Church 312 N. Main St. North Prairie. A Funeral service for Joe will be held on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at 10:00AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in North Prairie, WI with Rev. Daniel Torkelson officiating. Burial will follow at the North Prairie Cemetery. The family wishes to acknowledge their gratitude to the Oncology Staff at ProHealth Care, Dr. Christopher Hake and Dr. William Burns. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church.
