Helen Jane "Helenjane" Riordan Notice
Riordan, Helen Jane "Helenjane" (Nee Lynch) Entered Eternal Life July 19, 2013, with her children at her side at the age of 96. She was educated at Holy Angels Academy, Marquette University, the University of Minnesota, and National College of Education in the 1930s, and then taught kindergarten. She was married to her devoted husband, the late Robert "Bob" Riordan, for 59 years and ran their household in numerous cities while Bob worked for the FBI, the Milwaukee Sentinel, and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance. Born in Mineral Point, WI, Helenjane was a long-time resident of Wauwatosa, WI. She is survived by her loving children, Susan (Frank DeGuire) Riordan, Robert (Joan) Riordan, and Patricia (Larry) Witzling. Proud grandmother of Emily and Eric Riordan, and David, Laura (Jordan) and Sean Witzling. Proud "MiMi Jane" to great-grandchildren Owen and Eliza. Treasured sister of Joe (Dottie Kelso) Lynch of Baltimore, MD, and beloved by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sisters Ruth (John) Lawler and Marjorie (Tom) O'Shaughnessy, and her sister-in-law Roberta Lynch. The daughter of long-time Milwaukee clothier Joe (Clara) Lynch, she enjoyed dressing impeccably for important occasions. Even in her last days, Helenjane employed her great conversational style with all family members and friends. She always enjoyed a good story, and a good Irish joke. She never met a deck of cards she didn't like, and especially enjoyed playing bridge and rummy. Every day she kept track of news events. She kept her rosary close at hand, and loved to hear the Ave Maria. Helenjane was the touchstone of the family with loving guidance and generosity. With caring spirit she extended "Herself" to everyone she met. Special thanks to the gracious staffs at the Milwaukee Catholic Home, Howard Village, VITAS Hospice, and to her compassionate caregivers who proved to be angels on earth: Cora, Tita, Daisy, Flora, Colyer, Andrea, Larrisa, and Susan. Visitation Friday, July 26th at GESU CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1145 W. Wisconsin Ave., Milwaukee from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM followed by committal services at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee. Memorials to Gesu Parish, Milwaukee, Jesuit Partnership, Wis. Province, and the appreciated by Helenjane's family.
