1926 - 2013 Notice Condolences
Antonina "Nina" Storniolo Notice
Storniolo, Antonina "Nina" Was born in Palermo, Italy on November 20, 1926 and was carried by the angels to God on August 28, 2013, after a mercifully brief illness. Mamma, Nina, Nanna, or Aunt Ninetta, as she was known to the many people that loved her, lived her life to make others happy. Her heart was as big as the universe. She was happiest wearing an apron in her kitchen and cooking for her family. Her smile would light up the world. She was married to Nicolo Storniolo on April 28, 1954, and never left his side. Together they raised five children and took great joy in their 21 grandchildren. She is survived by her loving husband Nicolo and her five children, Anna Maria Storniolo (Joel Scherer), Frank (Paula) Storniolo, Frances (Gerald) Peterson, Diana (Steve) Turicek and Cosimo Storniolo (Merideth Weir). She would want to list her "gioielli" (jewels): her grandchildren are Alexander, Peter and Nicholas Sherer; Nicholas, Rachel, Andrew and Tate Storniolo; Thomas and Katelyn Peterson; Christopher and Brian Dudley; Jack and David Turicek; Antonina, Sarah, Norah, Isabella, Divya, Benny, Agoesh and Yi Ke Storniolo. "We were blessed to have her watch over us in life and now she will be watching us from heaven." Visitation Friday, August 30 at the HARDER FUNERAL HOME (corner of W. Capitol Dr. and Brookfield Rd.) from 4:30 PM until 6:45 PM with a prayer vigil service at 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 31 at 11:00 AM at ST. DOMINIC CATHOLIC CHURCH, 18255 W. Capitol Drive. Procession to Holy Cross Cemetery for the committal prayers and entombment to follow. Nina was a proud member of the Madonna del Lume Society and the Italian Community Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Tissue Bank at Indiana University Simon Cancer Center.
