Franz F. "Frank" Wuestenhagen Notice
Wuestenhagen, Franz F. "Frank" 1926-2013. Passed away September 3, 2013 in Ocala, Florida at age 87. He was a remarkable man: professional and down to earth, strict but kind, frugal and generous. He was born to Frank and Elsie Wuestenhagen on June 4, 1926 in New York City. Frank grew up in Hawthorne, New Jersey, and graduated from high school in 1944 with high honors. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he attended Purdue University, graduating in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and membership in several academic honor societies. Frank then moved to Milwaukee to work for Square D Electric. At a dance at the Eagles Club, he met Mary Jane Regan. They were married on November 20, 1952, and had four children: William, Mary, Robert, and Ann. He suffered the loss of his daughter Mary, and his wife. But he was always positive, engaging and upbeat. Left a single parent-in 1965-he raised three children, even as he achieved professional recognition as an electrical engineer. After his retirement from Square D in 1989, Frank remained active and independent for twenty years. He read widely, walked regularly, got together with fellow retirees, sought out new restaurants, and drove frequently to Illinois, Florida, and New Jersey to visit his children and his sister and brother-in law. Frank was a member and benefactor of St. Eugene's Parish in Fox Point for over 40 years. He moved to Ocala in 2010 and lived at The Bridge, an Assisted Living Facility, where he made many new friends. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his daughter. He is survived by his sister Louise (James) Van Ostenbridge of Wayne, New Jersey; his children William (Cheryl) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Robert, of Ocala, Florida; and Ann (Marcus) Buerosse, of Barrington, Illinois; his grandchildren Korianne (Scott) Nolin, Torilynne (Eric) Kersten, and Austin, Conner, and Christina Buerosse; two great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law Pat Cologne; and nieces, nephews, and their children. Frank will be remembered as a man of integrity, humor, and knowledge, a formative influence on his children and grandchildren. He was buried near his parents at Laurel Grove cemetery in Totowa, New Jersey on October 19, 2013. Memorials may be made to St. Eugene Congregation and School, 7600 N Port Washington Road, Fox Point, WI 53217.
