De Preter, Edward P. Entered into Eternal Life on January 26, 2014, at the age of 88. A recent resident of the Milwaukee Catholic Home and former longtime resident of Shorewood. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Katherine (James) De Preter Bedenko (nee Konrath); his grandson, Nicholas (Andi), great-grandson, Whitman; grandson, Chip (Trish) and great-grandsons, Dean and Hansel. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (nee Mondloch), their only child, Peter and a sister, Madeleine (nee De Preter) Lieffring. Ed was a veteran of World War II, serving as a First Lt. in the Army Air Force. He was very proud to have served in the 339th Bomb Squadron, 96th Bomb Group of the "Mighty Eighth Air Force" as a B-17 Navigator on 30 Bomber Missions over Germany. Following his military service, Ed returned to Marquette University and Triangle Fraternity graduating with a Bachelor of Science Civil Engineering degree in 1949. It was at Marquette that he met the love of his life, Alice Mondloch, a Marquette University Nursing student. Alice passed a month before their 48th wedding anniversary in 1997. Ed served the Village of Shorewood on the Traffic Safety Commission, The Board of Review and on the Physical Plant and Land Use Committee of the Shorewood School District. Ed was an active member of Holy Family Parish in Whitefish Bay for over 50 years. He was a long time member of the Alonzo Cudworth Post #23 of the American Legion. He was a Life Member of the 8th Air Force Historical Society and of the 96th Bomb Group Association. Visitation will be held at the Milwaukee Catholic Home in St. Anne's Chapel on Saturday, February 1, from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM, followed by the Celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM. Private interment in St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington, WI, beside his darling wife, Alice. In loving memory of Ed, memorials would be appreciated to the Milwaukee Catholic Home, 2462 N.
