Kurt Frauen Obituary

Frauen, Kurt Herman Age 89, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on April 27, 2014. Visitation will be held on May 8th from 11:00 to 1:00 at the Milwaukee Yacht Club (1700 N. Lincoln Memorial Dr.), with Military Honors at 12:00. Kurt was born in Chicago on February 3, 1925. He graduated from Northwestern University Class of 1948, and continued on to receive a Law degree from Yale, Class of 1951. Kurt was married to Marion in June 1954; they were married 59 years. Kurt was a senior partner at the law firm Borgelt, Powell, Peterson, and Frauen for 50 years. He was actively involved in the Wisconsin Bar Association, of which he was president for several years. Kurt was a navy veteran of World War II, where as a 20 year old Ensign he commanded the Destroyer - SS Terry for the ship's return from Japan to San Diego after the war. Kurt was preceded in death by his son Rod, and is survived by his wife Marion, children, Keith, Leith, Kim, Sue and Eric, sixteen grandchildren and other family and friends. He believed in living life to the fullest and had a strong sense of adventure, which he instilled in every one of his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed family vacations, time at the lake house, swimming, sailing, playing tennis, and reading spy novels. He was a longtime member of the Milwaukee Athletic Club, Heiliger Huegel Ski Club, and the Milwaukee Yacht Club. On family vacations he would spend hours judging each grandchild's dives into the pool and giving helpful instruction. He then, with no lack of pomp and circumstance, would present "dolphin awards" to each child for their swimming and diving skills. Each felt that they had really achieved something special. You were a very special man, lived an enviable life, and we will miss you very much, Dad/Gopper/ Bop/Grandpa. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Camp Manito-wish Campership Endowment in honor of Kurt Frauen.
