Michael Vogt Obituary

Vogt, Michael D. Age 67, passed away December 10 following a courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born in Milwaukee on January 7, 1947 to Hilbert and Dorothy Vogt. At age 18 he enlisted in the US Navy and proudly served his country for four years during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge he was appointed to the Racine County Sheriff's Department and served 27 years where he was involved in many different facets such as Deputy, Drug and Alcohol Special Task Force, Welfare Fraud, and Investigator. During his career as a police officer, Mike also worked as a Security Officer at Roma Lodge and Seven Mile Fair. When he retired he worked Security at the Law Enforcement Center. Mike loved to play golf and was overjoyed to receive a heart transplant which allowed him to continue to play the game while he could breathe! He was thrilled to travel to Scotland and visit the Old Course at St. Andrews. When he was not golfing, Mike enjoyed playing cribbage, watching the Packers, soccer games, and taking a drive in his yellow Porche'! Mike is survived by his fiancee', Sharon Tilton, his daughter, Amanda Koenecke (Ryan Danielson), son, Petty Officer Adam M. Vogt, USN, five grandchildren, Paige and Reagain Koenecke, Colt Danielson, Caley and Amber Vogt. Further survived by Sharon's children, Carolyn (Bradley) Brausch, Jennifer Tilton, and Chris Tilton and her grandchildren, Wendell, Payton, Chandra, and Cheyanne Brausch and Corporal Emmit M. Jakes, USMC, Danille, Andrew, and Austin Jakes, who all loved Grampa Mike. Mike is also survived by his sister Darlene (Stewart) Ansteth, a niece, Lisa and a nephew, Scott Ansteth, other relatives and special friends. Visitation and memorial service for Michael will be held on Thursday, December 18 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1610 Main Street, Union Grove, WI with visitation 9:00-10:30AM and service at 10:30AM followed by a Sheriff's escort to Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery where a burial service and full military honors will follow in the Chapel at 12PM. Memorials to the family are suggested.

So very sorry to here about Michael. My condolences to his family. Michael went to school with my brother. My family lived a few doors down when we were kids. Mike I will forever remember our 1st meeting at Roma lodge when I was a guest dancing in the fountain in the foyer.....we went on to work together at the place of our first encounter for many great years and you became part of the family when Carrie and I set you up with Sharon....RIP my dear friend....I hope you're dancing in fountains and playing your beloved game of golf...
