Yvette Edvidge Mathilde Ehr

Ehr, Yvette Edvidge Mathilde (Nee Reynier ). In Loving Memory of Yvette Edvidge Mathilde Reynier Ehr France's greatest gift to America, Yvette Ehr, left us on May 13, 2015. She was born to Raoul Reynier, the original French chef, and his wife, Yvonne, on March 15, 1927 shortly after arriving in New York from France. After a brief time in Champagne, Illinois, the family settled on the Eastside of Milwaukee, where she attended elementary and high school at St. John's Cathedral and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in education at Marquette University. She taught at Third Street School until she began her family and then substitute taught for many years. She met her husband of 64 years, Thomas, the first day of high school. Her passions included exercise, art classes with her good friend Kay, extensive world travel and, at the top of the list, anything culinary. From the best chili hot dog to haute cuisine, she enjoyed it all and as her grandchild recounted "never have I known someone who at 88 years old could get so excited about a martini". It has been said she could light up an entire room with her beautiful smile. You could meet her once for ten minutes and then speak admirably about her for ten years. Most importantly, she cared passionately about her family. Together, she and Tom raised Thaumas, Raoul (Esme), Nicolas (Yalek Ho), Yvette Landau (Ellis), Jonathan, and Gigi Danisewicz (Michael). She was the adoring, and adored, "Meme" of Kaitlin, Hailey, Madeline and Yvette Danisewicz and Rachel (Joe Ersek) and David Landau and "Grand Meme" to Ben, Evie and Grace Ersek. She will be joining many lifelong friends and Theta Phi Alpha sorority sisters. If desired, memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin.
