Arthur Lubke Obituary

Lubke, Arthur F., Jr. "Art" Passed away December 25, 2015 at the age of 79. Devoted and cherished husband of Gloria Tracy. Proud and loving father of Kristin (Thomas) Whyte and Gregory (Dawn) Lubke. Much loved by his grandchildren T.J., Patrick, Maggie and Michael Whyte, and Christian and Anna Lubke. Will be sorely missed by his sister Etta (Ted) Taylor, as well as other family members and many friends. Art was born and raised in St. Louis. After graduating from Yale University, he served as an officer in the U.S. Navy, and later graduated from the University of Michigan Law School. In 1964, Art came to Milwaukee to join the law firm of Reinhart Boerner, where he practiced law for his entire career, more than 50 years. He was active in many legal and civic organizations, and gave much time and energy to the Skylight Music Theater, serving on their Board of Directors for several years. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM followed by a celebration of life until 5:30 PM on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the Broadway Theater Center (home of the Skylight Music Theater), 158 N. Broadway, Milwaukee, WI 53202. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Skylight Music Theater or the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (1558 N. 6th St., Milwaukee, WI 53212) would be appreciated.

We have so many fond memories of times spent with Art and Tracy during the years that we were neighbors on Park Ave.

We remember when our two sons were very young, after they were in bed and asleep we'd sometimes end up on your deck to enjoy a glass of wine and good conversation.

We remember Art and Tracy teaching us how to make pesto and enjoying some of Art's freshly baked to perfection bread and a glass of wine.

And of course we'll never forget the tradition of watching the Kentucky Derby together and enjoying Art's unbelievable Mint Juleps!

Wonderful times, wonderful people!

We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Art and Tracy were our next door neighbors on Pewaukee Lake for several years. Great neighbors and great friends. Art took it upon himself to teach about fine wines, single malt Scotch and great soups on New Years Day. I also had the privlege of watering the plants when he and Tracy were away on one of there many trips...!
A great friend and a great neighbor. He joins our mutual good friend Harry Drake who passed away earlier in the year in Heaven.

In the difficult days to come, may the words and promise at Isaiah 35:5,6 give you comfort and hope.

Art, I remember you as always serious about your T&E work but also that you made time to chat and laugh with staff. Your story about Jennings and office lights on/off always cracked me up. It was great knowing you.

Wishing your loved ones peace at this sad time.

Art and I were roommates in college for our final three years at Yale, and we played football and traveled together extensively during those unforgettable years. We shared so many growing-up experiences which helped create a pathway to our adult lives which we lived in different cities pursuing similar professional careers but, unfortunately, with infrequent contact. My memories of Art during our maturing years are such happy ones, and I will carry them with me always.
