August E. "Augie" Preuss

Preuss, August E. "Augie" "Buddy" Died peacefully at home on January 8, 2016 in Sussex, WI at the age of 84. Augie is survived by children Kevin (Lisa) Preuss of Columbus, IN, Karen (David) Blazosky of Santa Fe, NM, and Kyle (Michelle) Preuss of Eagle, WI, his dear friend Jackie Korenak, and grandchildren Nick, Elyse, Ben and Matt, stepsons Jack (Bonnie) Williams and Jim (Renell) Williams, step grandchildren Jeremy, Justin, Tia and Kali and step great grandchildren Anthony, Alyssa, Lindsay Elliot, Oliver, and Laurel. He was preceded in death by wife Joyce Porter, brothers Max Preuss, Huntz Preuss and sister Viola (Preuss) Ballenger. Augie was born on August 7, 1931 in Elroy, WI to August Preuss and Gertrude (Zimmerman) Preuss. He married Marguerite (Basso) Preuss in 1952 and Joyce Porter in 1997. Augie worked for over 40 years in the metal stamping business, many of those as a general manager. He served in the Army in Japan during the Korean War. Friends and family remember Augie working the fields with his team of Belgian draft horses, participating in local parades and demonstrating horse-drawn farm equipment. Augie was a joy for his partners on the dance floor, water-skied the lakes in Wisconsin and Indiana and traveled the country with his wife Joyce in their RV. He was a member of Covenant Lutheran Church. Visitation will be held Monday, January 11, 2016 from 4-8 PM prayer service at 7 PM at the Schmidt & Bartelt Funeral Home in Sussex, WI.
