Albert "Skeet" Eugene Lanckriet (Lawn-crete), 87 of Julesburg, CO passed away Sunday April 28th, 2013 in Julesburg. Visitation was held Wednesday May 1st at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home. Rosary services were held Thursday May 2nd at 10:30am, with Mass of Christian Burial Following at 11am at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Julesburg, CO, with Father Michael O'Brien celebrating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Albert was born December 8, 1925 in Julesburg, Colorado the son of Edmund and Susanna (Klug) Lanckriet. He attended District 20 Country in Julesburg, CO until 8th grade. Albert joined the U.S. Army October 26, 1944 and served his time in the Philippines in the infantry until his discharge on February 7, 1946. He received the Bronze Star for meritorious achievement in ground combat during WWII. Albert worked as a Contractor and also farmed when he returned to Julesburg in 1974 which was his second love.
Albert married Ruby Campbell on January 20, 1947 and the two were married until Ruby's passing November 17, 1972. He then married Mary Armstrong on December 29, 1973. Albert was a member of the local VFW and Elks Club of Ogallala, NE. He loved going on elk hunting trips and fishing. He also enjoyed swapping stories with all his friends and relatives.
Albert is survived by daughter Vicky Holbrook, of West City, Utah, daughter-in-law Nancy Rademacher and husband Jerry of Julesburg, brother Henry and wife Irene of Julesburg, sisters Polly Zimmerman and husband Darrell of Julesburg, Babe Phelan and husband Don of Big Springs, NE, Margaret Jones of Denver, CO, and Martha Neubauer of Ogallala, NE, sister-in-laws Donna Lanckriet of Ogallala, NE, Margaret Lanckriet of Morrill, NE, Freda Lanckriet, of Julesburg, and Janice Lanckriet, of Julesburg, brother-in-law Don Campbell and wife Jeanne of Fullerton, CA, twelve grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents Edmund and Susanna, wife Ruby (Campbell), wife Mary Zoppelli (Armstrong), brothers Edmund "Shorty", Frederick "Fred", Donald "Dutch", Clarence "Jerry", and Francis "Jiggs", sister Julia "Girly" Stretesky, son Terry Lanckriet, and son-in-law John Holbrook.
Memorials can be made in Albert's name to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 606 W 3rd St. Julesburg, CO 80737 or to the Gateway Medical Foundation 900 Cedar St. Julesburg, CO 80737. Austin-Tennant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
