Harold William Blecha, 84, of Julesburg, passed away suddenly Friday, February 15, 2013 in Sidney, NE. Services were held at Julesburg United Methodist Church on February 20, 2013 with Pastor Alice Koech presiding. Interment followed at the Hillside Cemetery, Julesburg.
Harold was born on August 23, 1928 in Pickrell, NE, the son of Victor and Eva Blecha. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1946 and married LaVerne Nagel of Scottsbluff, NE, April 9, 1950. His interest in electronics led him to complete a correspondence course from the International Television Technology School in Chicago, IL. While living in Lincoln, NE Harold worked for Cushman Motors, Lincoln Telegraph and Telephone and Western Electric. Moving on to Holdredge and then Gothenburg, NE he was employed by KK Appliance Co. The family moved then to Julesburg CO in 1963 where Harold was employed by Virgil Harshman. In 1965 he opened Harold's Radio & TV and in the mid 70's a Radio Shack franchise was added. Both sons, Russ and Jerry, worked in the business. Harold sold Harold's Radio & TV in 1983 and went to work for Television Technology of Broomfield until retirement in 1992.
Harold was active in the community his entire life. He was a current member of Holyoke Lodge #81, Past Master of Logan Lodge #70, Julesburg 1969, '83, '89, life member - 32° Scottish Rite Mason, Colorado York Rite Mason and Sterling Commandery #35 Knight Templar. Harold was also a life member of Ogallala Elks Lodge
#1760, Past President of Julesburg Chamber of Commerce, Past President of Fort Sedgwick Historical Society and a Past President of the Lions Club. He was a member of the Julesburg United Methodist Church where he served on several boards and committees throughout his life. With wife LaVerne he volunteered at the Colorado Welcome Center and was currently a member of the Northview Apartment Board.
Harold is survived by his wife, LaVerne, son Jerry and wife Lisa of Ft. Morgan, CO, daughter Lorinda O'Hara and husband Frank, Denver, CO, sister Kathryn Werger, Lincoln, NE, brother Richard and wife Gayle, Lincoln, NE, brother-in-law Arnold Meints, Cortland, NE, six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
