Janet (Jan) Ann Lechman, 79, of Denver, CO passed away on September 24, 2013 after a battle with cancer for several months.
Janet was born on April 7, 1934 in Sterling, CO to Adam and Regina Lechman. She attended elementary and secondary schools in Sedgwick County in Colorado and graduated from Ovid High School in 1952.
After High School Janet attended college for one year at Colorado State College in Greeley. She returned to Sedgwick County the following year to start her life's work with the Telephone Company, first working as a telephone operator in the town of Julesburg. After several years in Julesburg she moved to the Denver area and maintained her employment with the Telephone Company for forty five years. Janet received various awards and promotions with the phone company working in areas of fund raising, contributions, advertising, and finally public relations. She would build many long lasting friendships and relationships with her career at Mountain Bell Telephone Company. After her retirement Janet retained her residence in the Denver area.
Janet was a devout Roman Catholic Christian attending Daily Mass and receiving communion on a daily basis and maintaining a very strong prayer life. She was also active in numerous organizations within the church, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Bible School, Eucharistic Ministry, Chrismatic Prayer Group and then making many monetary donations. Her prayer life and love of God was the most important aspect and driving force of her daily life. Here too, with her work in the church, Janet, would again build many long lasting friendships and relationships.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Regina, brother William Lechman, sister Catherine Frank, brothers Elmer Lechman, Raymond Lechman and John Edward Sanger.
Janet is survived by sisters; Dolores Sanger of Englewood, CO; Leanne Thoma of Lakewood, CO; Kathy Truitt of Denver, CO and Becky Gette of Oshkosh, NE; brothers Vincent Lechman of Greeley, CO; Stanley Lechman of Julesburg, CO and Gary Lechman of Loveland, CO. Janet is also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial was held on September 27, 2013 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Aurora, CO, Burial was held at the Ovid Cemetery the following day.
