Lucile Maxine "Lu" Kantor Obituary
Lucile Maxine Kantor, 83, of Julesburg, CO passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 in Julesburg. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 6th, from 2pm to 7pm at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 7th, at 10:30am, at the United Methodist Church of Julesburg with Pastor Alice Koech officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery.
Lucile Maxine was born June 14, 1931 in Clarks, Nebraska to Fred and Evelyn (Peck) Freeland. She graduated from High School in Clarks, NE. On June 13, 1953 Lucile married Daniel Joe Kantor in Clarks, NE and the two were married for 46 years until Dan's death in 1999. Dan & Lu came to Julesburg to work at Bergens Department store in the late 60's, the business was purchased by Hartung's department store in the early 70's. They managed Hartung's department store until 1988 at which time they purchased the business & renamed it Kantor's Klothing until its closure in 1994.
Lu was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Sedgwick Ladies Golf Association. She volunteered at the Julesburg Grade School for 16 years for 2 hours every day until the time of her death. Lu enjoyed having the many children of the 1st & 2nd grades read to her through the years.
Lucile is survived by sons, Daniel Joe Kantor Jr. & wife Mary of Julesburg, CO, Douglas Paul Kantor & wife Paula of Julesburg, CO, grandchildren Nicholas Kantor & wife Sarah of Manhattan, KS, Cassie Kellett & husband PK of Littleton, CO, Matthew Kantor of Ft. Collins, CO, AJ Kantor & wife Emily of Ft. Collins, CO, Eric Kantor & wife Bridget of Greeley, CO, Trevor Kantor of Julesburg, CO, great-grandchildren Colbie Kellett, Alyvia Kantor, Jackson Kantor, and step-great-grandson Jaden Kellett.
She was preceded in death by husband Dan Kantor, parents Evelyn & Fred Freeland, sister Mae Marie Craig, and sister Doris Ann Glinnsman.
Memorials can be made to the Julesburg Grade School or the United Methodist Church of Julesburg C/O Doug Kantor 222 W 3rd St. Julesburg, CO 80737. Austin-Tennant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements
