1924 - 2013 | Obituary Condolences
Norman Kracke, 89. of Ogallala, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013 in Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.??Norman Lovelle Kracke was born July 11, 1924 in Dewitt, Nebr., the son of Emil and Gertrude (Ulrich) Kracke. In 1932 the Kracke family moved to a farm northwest of Big Springs, Nebr. They survived the depression and the drought of the 1930's. ??He graduated from Big Springs High School in 1942. Norman was inducted into the armed forces on November 16, 1944. He was sent to serve overseas in April 1945 and assigned to the 293rd Combat Engineers. near Frankfurt, Germany. Norman returned to the States in August 1945 for reassignment to the Pacific. He was discharged on July 27, 1946 at Fort Lewis, Wash. with the rank of T-5.??Norman then returned to the family farm near Big Springs and continued farming with his parents. He retired from farming in 1995. He served on the Board of Soil Conservation and its' replacement, the Natural Resource District. ??He was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church, and a former member of Zion Lutheran Church , serving on several committees, and also was a member of the Big Springs Cemetery Board. ??Preceding him in death were his parents and brother-in-law Charles Lugton.??Survivors include a sister Marjorie Lugton of Littleton, Colo.; and nieces: Laura (Alan) Coleman and their sons Charles and Christopher of Peralta, NM; Karen (Aaron) Harris of Littleton, Colo.;?and Nancy (David) Muldoon & their children Emilie and Patrick of Littleton, Colo. and many other relatives and friends. ??Cremation was held in accordance with Norman's wishes. A memorial service will be Saturday, September 28th at 10:00 am from St Paul's Lutheran Church in Ogallala with Rev. John Stubenrouch and Rev Trenton Christensen of Zion Lutheran Church of Big Springs officiating. ?Inurnment is on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Big Springs Cemetery with military honors by Keith County Veterans Organization. A memorial has been established to St. Pauls Lutheran School Endowment Fund.
