Beverly Flemming Obituary

BEVERLY POOLE FLEMING
2/16/1938-6/19/2012

Born to Edward L. and Lois May Poole in Juneau, Alaska. She was the second of two daughters. She grew up in Juneau and graduated in 1956 from Juneau/Douglas High School and attended two years accounting school. In 1964 she moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she worked for five years at Brown & Roots a subsidiary of Haliburton, where she did the payroll for the pipeline workers. Next, she worked for the Anchorage Housing Authority, before moving to Honolulu, Hawaii in 1974, with two children, her husband and no job. She quickly found a job and worked at "Railings" in Halawa, until 1977, when she joined Honolulu Freight Service and a short time later Magnum Transportation. She left and went to work managing PML-GFF (Guam Freight & Air/ACR Ship Agency), after the passing of her husband, William A. Fleming in 1986, at the young age of 54 years. Through this tragedy she endured. Later her widower lady friends introduced her to ballroom dancing. She loved it!

In 1990, she married, Norman Shea, and they retired in 1994. They moved to Las Vegas at that time and returned to Hawaii in 2001. In 2004, Beverly and Norman started taking annual cruises to Alaska until 2011. She was also an avid cross stitcher, she has completed more than fifty pieces of works of art. In 2010 she was stricken with throat cancer. She took Laser treatment and was given a year and a half to live. She had a zest for life. She will be missed by all whose life she has touched. She was a lady of humility, grace and elegance.

Beverly is survived by her husband Norman Shea, sister Yvonne Reeves, son Robert B. Fleming, daughter Teresa May Langston (William) and seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. There was a visitation and burial for Beverly on July 7, 2012 handled by the Moanalua Mortuary and she was buried at Diamond Head Memorial Park in Honolulu.

A memorial for Beverly will be held in Juneau, Alaska on June 19, 2013 at the Catholic Church, Cathedral f the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, at 416 Fifth Street beginning at 2:00 p.m. Beverly's husband, Norman Shea, from Hawaii will be there to mark one year since Beverly's death.
