Kenneth Polk Obituary

Kenneth Earl Polk
Kenneth Earl Polk Passed away Saturday December 1st, at his home in Juneau, with his family by his side. Ken was born October 28th 1960 in Bellingham Washington to Lavelle & Wanda Polk. He attended high school in Detroit Oregon where he met and later married his wife Linda Millican. After high school Ken worked at Green Veneer Lumber Mill in Idanha Oregon until the mill closed in 1992. For a few years he worked in construction until 1995 when he and Linda decided to relocate their family to Alaska, first trying a short stint in Anchorage where they found the city much too big for their comfort coming from a town with a population of 350, they decided to try their luck in Juneau, which they found to be the best decision they ever made for their family. Shortly after arriving in Juneau, Ken found employment with Greens Creek Mining Company. Ken loved working out at the mine and met many good friends there. He would often come home with some pretty hilarious stories about pranks his coworkers had pulled or about the wildlife that he saw out there. Ken continued his career with Greens Creek Mine until his health forced him into retirement.
Ken loved the outdoors and his favorite past time was fishing, Ken was a person who loved to give, both of his time and money, he was a member of many different local charities such as the Eagles, Elks and was a life time member of the Moose Lodge. One of his favorites that he often contributed to was the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, (go figure?). Because of this, the family has asked that anyone wanting to make a donation in his honor to please send their donation to BCRF in honor of Ken Polk 60 East 56th St 8th floor New York NY 10022 or donations can be made on line at http://bcrfcure.org
Ken is survived by his wife Linda, father Lavelle Polk of Salem Ore, brother Jimmy Polk of Salem Ore, sons Brad (Wendy) Polk of Dallas Ore, Danny Polk of Salem Ore, Pete (Madison) Tipikin of Juneau, James(Chelsie) Arendt of Juneau, and his daughters, Tonya (Anthony) Padilla of Terrebonne Ore, Katrina (Haynes) Tormey of Willow AK and many grandchildren. Ken was preceded in death by his mother Wanda Polk and brothers Terry and Sherman Polk
Services will be held at the Juneau Moose Lodge on January 12th at 2:00 with a potluck and celebration of life to follow.
