George was born in Hoonah, Alaska on September 27, 1927 to Karrie Fawcett. George belonged to the Raven Clan. He had servived the World War II as a Military Police officer. He had served in the United States Army from January 22, 1946 to December 25, 1946.

He worked in construction and lived a subsistance life style by fishing and deer hunting. The hobbies he enjoyed was working with the youth groups, going for car/bus rides, dancing, watching basketball games, and family gatherings. His love for basketball enabled him to start a basketball team of his own called the Hoonah Outlaws.

George married Violet Hanson on August 8, 1948. He raised 12 Children. Carol Johnson (Husband Ben), George Mayeda Jr., Karen Orazio (Husband Michael), Geraldine Larson, Gerald Mayeda (Wife Marlis), Vera Jackson (Husband Jim), Maxine Cropley (Husband Ron Sr.), Elizabeth Mayeda, John Mayeda, Donna James (Husband Ken), Hazel Shorty, and Nellie Scharclane. He has 47 Grandchildren, 72 Great grandchildren, and 1 Great great grandchild.

George is proceeded in death by: His grandparents who raised him Henry and Emma Mayeda, His wife of 38 years Violet, and his children Carol Johnson, 3 Month old baby boy George, George Mayeda Jr., and Geraldine Larson.

Pall Bears are Sean Cropley, Erick Karlson Jr., Gerald Mayeda Jr., Jeremy Johnson, Lucas Johnson, Ben Johnson, Ron Cropley Jr., and Thomas Johnson.

Honorary Pall Bears are Michael Orazio, Ron Cropley Sr., Bill Horton, Al McKinley, Erinie Hillman, Bill Wilson, Marlis Mayeda, and Judy Hanson.

His ashes will be spread in Hoonah, AK next to wife Violet. He will be truly missed by his family, friends, and loved ones.
