June 1928 - December 2017 & December 1938 - December 2017

Avis Marie Troop Logan, 89, and John "Jack" Absalom Logan, 79, died December 2017 of natural causes in their Maricopa, Arizona home.

Jack was born on December 20, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts. Avis was born on June 24, 1928 in Union City, Nebraska, and attended school in Colorado.

Avis and Jack met in Coos Bay, Oregon and were wed on January 21, 1959. Jack's career in the United States Air Force took the family from Oregon to Florida, to Texas, and finally to Anchorage, Alaska, where Jack retired after 20 years of service. Avis worked full-time continuously as a legal secretary and held several civil service positions. After Jack's retirement, they moved to Juneau, where Jack worked as deputy director of Retirement and Benefits for the State of Alaska, and Avis went to work for the Internal Revenue Service. Avis retired from the IRS in 1983 and opened what is now Logan General Tax Practice. Over the years, Jack and Avis were very active with the family and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. They were avid boaters and enjoyed fishing and cruising in Southeast Alaska. They continued to work in the family business in Juneau until 2000, when they left Alaska to move back to Coos Bay where they first met. Jack and Avis couldn't really stay in one place very long, so soon they were travelling in their motorhome all over the western US, Canada, and Alaska. They finally settled in Maricopa, Arizona in 2009.

They are survived by their children: Linda (Terry) Kingston of Irving, TX, Craig (Charlene) Davis, of Peters Creek, AK, John (Lynn) Logan of Juneau, Tom (Ted) Logan of Sacramento, CA, and Mike Logan of Juneau; Grandchildren Laura (Matt) Rankin, Mark Lewis, Margaret (Alex) Logan, Jennifer Logan, Stephanie (Sean) Finley, Brendan (Joanna) Davis, Alan Davis; and great grandchildren James, Lila, and Ciaran.

The family will hold a private service.
