Beverley Jean Kearney passed away November 23, 2012 at Wild Flower Court. She was 82.
She was born February 13, 1930 in Sedro-Wooley Washington.
She moved to Juneau at 14 in 1944 and attended school here, graduating High School in 1947.
She married Kenneth Kearney in 1950.
She had worked at the Breakwater Hotel as a desk clerk, Bureau of Indian Affairs as a switchboard operator and Alaska Department of Fish and Game as a clerk before becoming a full time stay at home mother to take care of her three sons Ken, John, and Lee, all of Juneau.
Not only was she a mother to her three sons but she was also a mother figure for all the neighborhood children from Gastineau Avenue to Star Hill. She was always there for anyone who needed her.
She would load up the car with the kids and off to the beach we would go.
She was also a stamp collector and would enjoy getting stamps from the old envelopes at the local dump on Thane road. It was a way for her to travel the world without leaving Juneau.
Also, she enjoyed the time the family would spend at the Anna and Jack Kearney cabin on South Lena beach. She loved Juneau and thought there was no better place to be. She enjoyed reading and dreaming of traveling the world.
She was diagnosed with MS and diabetes in the late 60's, which finally took her life away.
Her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Kearney, passed October 1999 just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary. Her words were "Well he got out of that one." She loved him so very much and missed him greatly for leaving her behind.
We all pray that they are together again.
She is survived by her sons Ken, John and Lee all of Juneau.
Clinton Kearney (grandson) of Anchorage. Sisters, Colleen (Don) Breen of Seattle, WA, Jessie (Jeff) of Tonasket, Washington, Uncle John Dressel of Spokane WA, and so many dear friends and classmates.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Kenneth K. Kearney, Mother and father Ruby B. and Austin D. Earl and grandsons, Clayton Kearney, and Carlton Kearney.
Though she lost her ability to walk some time ago, she is walking again in a different world where she is reunited with her loving husband.
We would like to thank Wild Flower Court for her last few years more comfortable.
All the wonderful nurses and people there made her very happy that they were to help her. She loved them all very much.
No services are planned at this time and will be announced at a later date.
