Bob Noel died September 21 at the Pioneer's Home in Juneau. He was 94.

Born in Lake Forest Illinois, Bob spent his youth in Sarasota Florida.
He and his brother Jack joined the Army in 1942. Bob flew numerous bombing raids in both theaters during the war. His bother was a paratroop commander.

After the war Bob returned to Sarasota where he married his childhood sweetheart Mary Alice Fabre. He left the service in 1953 after his last overseas posting to Tripoli, Libya.

When he returned to the States Bob went to work for the Civil Aeronautics Administration (now the FAA) and was posted to Juneau just before Alaska statehood.

Bob and Mary Alice built a home on the back Loop Road, raised four children and were active in the Auke Bay community. Bob was an avid ham radio operator (KL7CVX) and Mary Alice enjoyed local Democratic politics.

In the mid 70's they retired and spent time in Florida, Oregon, and Washington before returning to Juneau to rejoin their children. Mary Alice died here in 2003. Bob is now with her in peace.

Bob is survived by his children Michael (Maria Moya), Peter (DJ Carroll), Patricia, and James (Brenda Wright); by granddaughters Madeline Noel and Miranda Noel; and by great-granddaughter Jasmine Noel Stocker.

The family plans private services.
