Byron Lacey Sanford

Byron Lacey Sanford, 79, Ozawkie, KS., formerly of Juneau, AK, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 24, 2015 at the Hospice of the Valley in Glendale, AZ.
Byron was born May 31, 1935 in Topeka, the son of Francis Chapman and Margaret Lacey Sanford. He was a 1953 graduate of Meriden High School and had attended the University of Kansas. He was a member of the Rock Creek Bible Church in Meriden, KS, and a recognized member of the Sun City Poet's Society, the Arizona Poet's Society and the National Poet's Society.
Byron was a mechanic, welder, manager, care giver, father, poet, songwriter and author. He was married to Darlyne Teresa Tuffley in Meriden on November 18, 1961. After working as a mechanic at the Barnett Rambler dealership in Topeka, they moved to Juneau in 1962, where he co-owned and operated with his brother-in-law the T & S welding shop in Juneau for 27 years. Darlyne preceded him in death on June 7, 1982. After his retirement from his welding business, he worked for Lyle's Hardware in Juneau from 1989 to 1997.
He was married to Patricia Mary Brown Morrow on December 4, 1982. They moved to Ozawkie, KS in 1997 where Patricia preceded him in death on January 4, 2008.
He was married to Barbara I. Paddock on March 2, 2012 in Queen Valley, AZ, and she survives at the home.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara I. Sanford, Paradise, AZ, three sons, Stephen H. Sanford, Anchorage, AK, Robert F. (Jenny) Sanford, San Isidro, Costa Rica, Thomas L.(Libby) Sanford, Roeland Park, KS, two daughters, Rebecca D. Huffman, Grand Junction, CO, Jennifer L. (Mark) Larson, Ozawkie, KS, three step-children, Debbie (Jerry) Grundman, Gig Harbor, WA, Kim Horn, Juneau, AK, Mitch (Tina) Horn, Vancouver, WA, two sisters, Norma Kanzig, Queen Valley, AZ, Jeannie (Phil) Teel, Roseburg, OR, five grandchildren, Sean Kubaskie, Teresa Templin, Stephanie Roth, Sofia Sanford, Olivia Sanford and six great-grandchildren, Lia Kubaskie, Devan Kubaskie, Jack Templin, Halle Templin, Jeremiah Roth and Havenslie Roth and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Sanford in April 2006.
A Celebration of Life Service will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 31 at Rock Creek Bible Church, Meriden, KS. Grave Side Interment will be at the Meriden Cemetery at a later date.
