Carl Douglas Swanson passed away in Seattle in January of this year, where he had lived for many years.

Carl was born on May 27, 1956 in Tacoma, Washington. He grew up in Juneau and graduated from Juneau Douglas High School in 1974. He attended Western Washington University and graduated with a BA in Political Science. Carl worked for the Division of Personnel at the State of Alaska, Department of Administration for many years, and continued working in human resources in the Seattle area. He will be remembered by family and friends for his quick wit and sense of humor, an appreciation of the arts, and a gift for storytelling. He was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Seattle.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Marjorie Swanson, and is survived by brother Eric Swanson; niece Claire Marx; step-niece Valerie Rose; and great-nephew Darren Marx, all of Juneau. Per his wishes no services will be held.
