Chet William Shaw passed away November 12, 2014 at age 51.

Born August 18, 1963 in Tacoma, Washington, he spent the majority of his life in Alaska, residing primarily in Fairbanks and Juneau.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, spent six years as a commercial fisherman, and most recently worked as a laborer on the North Slope.

His reverence for the outdoors was evident by the way he chose to live off the grid in a cabin; it was his sanctuary. He loved his country, being free, and the NRA.

He was a loving father, son, brother, and friend who will be missed until the end of time.

He is survived by his daughter Jessica Draper; two sisters, Sherry Shaw and Doreen Shaw; his brother Cody Shaw; five grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert Shaw, who passed in August 1985 and his mother, Cora Shaw, who passed in August 2009.

His service will be held next summer at the Northern Lights Cemetery in Fairbanks, Alaska and will be followed by a celebration of life at his property in North Pole, Alaska. The announcement will be made in the paper in the beginning of June.
