Eda Pearl Swanson, 83, born February 27, 1928 to Herbert and Eda Martinson on their homestead farm in Louriston Township, Chippewa County, MN, the youngest of 8 children. Pearl passed away at Harborview Medical Center, Seattle on February 23, 2012 after a brief illness. Her childhood was spent in the Maynard, MN area and she graduated from Maynard High School in 1946. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth Swanson. Pearl and Ken knew each other their entire lives as they grew up together on neighboring farms. They shared the very best of times dancing and socializing with relatives and friends at grange and dancehalls, lake picnics, family gatherings and while recounting memories at the dinner table. After marriage they worked as dairy farmers in Minnesota; in 1960, they moved with their three children to Juneau, Alaska. Pearl was well known in Juneau as she took much pride in her commitment to service as a waitress for 28 years at the Glacier Lounge in the Juneau International Airport. After retirement she and Ken enjoyed extensive travel in their RV throughout the US. While her family was always her first importance, she also enjoyed sewing, gardening and loved to receive cards and letters from family and friends. Pearl loved to bake and cook and her meals were always enjoyed. Pearl is especially remembered by her family for her nurturing care, unconditional love and tireless devotion to their wellbeing. Pearl was baptized, confirmed, married and will be laid to rest beside her husband in the rural setting of Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church near DeGraff, MN. Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 10, 2012.

She is survived by her son Keven (Suzette) and grandchildren Suzanna, Kendal, Miles of Birmingham, AL and Tosha Bettis and great grandchildren William and Samantha of Nashville, TN; daughter Debra Guillaume (Mark) and granddaughter Heather Marlow of Juneau, AK; son Scott (Joan) and grandchildren Derik, Lana and Orion of Juneau, AK; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
