Juneau resident Edward William Maki died January 19, 2017. He was 61. A celebration of life will be from 1-3 pm on Saturday, February 25th at the Moose Family Center.

Ed was born May 9, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Beth Crawford and Edward Maki. He moved with his family to Juneau in an old converted school bus in 1959. He graduated from Juneau Douglas High School in 1973. On December 17, 1977, Ed married Margi Feero, his high school sweetheart. Before his retirement 2 years ago, Ed worked for the State of Alaska Dept. of Administration (Information Technology) for 25 years.

Ed and Margi dreamed of one day retiring and visiting all 50 states. It took a few years but they finished their dream together this past October. They also went on 2 cruises to fill in some extra time. Ed loved going on adventures with the kids as they were growing up. From camping, hiking, dragon hunting, fishing and mushroom picking just to name a few. He also loved to read to his children and grandchildren. The highlight of his day was playing with the grandchildren.

Ed is survived by his wife of 39 years; son, Michael and wife Jaynee, and his children, Skyler and Alexandra; daughter, Jennifer Lium and husband Steve and their children Gavin and Oliver; son, Jonathan and his fiancé Amber Paquin; sister, April (Jeffrey) Roth and their family; brothers, David Burney and Jimmy Wanamaker and his family. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, several in-laws, nieces, nephews and longtime friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, William Burney.
