The Guest Book is expired.

Edythe B. McMurtry passed away on October 15, 2011. She was born in Clio, Iowa, in 1918 to Winfield Scott Boone and Mary A. Boone. She moved with her family moved to California as an infant and spent most of her life there. She was married to Orris "Slim" Davis and later to Howard McMurtry. Edythe was employed in the front office of several medical firms during her work life. She and her second husband were avid bridge players in the Bay Area and then in Northern California after they retired. They built a house in Berry Creek and made many good friends at bridge tables in Oroville, Chico, and Paradise, California.

About seven years ago Edythe moved to Juneau to live closer to relatives. She never tired of watching the Channel from her Marine View apartment and appreciated the company of helpers and friends who did much to assist her and make her life enjoyable. She liked to cook, read, work crossword puzzles, tell jokes, and collect old sayings.

Edythe was preceded in death by her husband, Howard McMurtry, her parents, and four siblings--James S. Boone, Earle G. Boone, Ralph W. Boone, and Ruth Meyer. She is survived by nieces and nephews: Vivian (Karl) Hegg of Juneau; Jack Boone, of Eagle, Alaska; Shari Reyna of Lowell, Oregon; Carol Angiolet of Grants Pass, Oregon; and Rita Boone. She also leaves great (and great-great) nephews and nieces including Paul (Anna Kim) Hegg, of Juneau; Angella (Justin) Wentz and daughter Lilly, of Marysville, California; Daniel Boone; Margaret Raby; Karin Reyna, and others. A gathering of friends celebrated her life.
