Betty Adams, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2017 surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Kansas City, MO to Lillian and Jack Hill. Growing up she lived in Missouri and California. Betty graduated from Downy High School and attended California State University Long Beach.
In 1966 Betty married Daryl Edward Adams and together they raised 4 children; Darren, John, Jason, & Melissa. In 1983, Betty began a new adventure when she moved to Juneau, AK with her family. Betty was very involved in the community attending countless sporting events, school events, and social functions in support of her children. Betty was an amazing mother and was very devoted to her family.
Betty retired from Catholic Community Services in 2006 after 20 years of loyalty. Betty was proud of the services this organization provided the community and was thrilled to be a part of it. In retirement Betty spent countless hours working on the Resident Council at Wildflower Court most recently serving as the organizations President. Betty spearheaded the Adopt a Family Christmas Program and ran that program for many years. This program was near and dear to her heart and she loved helping families during the holidays.
Betty was a compassionate person who always had a listening ear and sound advice. She truly enjoyed visiting with her family, friends, & neighbors solving the problems of the world. Betty's "red chair" was a place of comfort, refuge, & companionship for many people over the years. Betty loved sharing stories of her family and was openly proud of each of her children and even more proud of her 10 amazing grandchildren. She cherished the time spent with family celebrating all of life's moments.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Jack & Lillian. She is survived by her sons, Darren of Juneau, John and wife Jennifer of Juneau, Jason and wife Leslie of Florida, and daughter Melissa of Juneau; and grandchildren Christy, Emily, Jack, Raegan, Morgan, Keegan, Keeley, Kyle of Juneau; Chloe and Gavin of Florida.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2018 at the Eagle Beach Recreation Area. Our family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the staff of Wildflower Court and the staff of Bartlett Regional Hospital CCU, RT, & ER.
