Frances Barbara (Lunder) Still, passed away on Thursday, August 11th 2016 at her home on Douglas Island. She is survived by her husband, Jan Charles Still, and her three children, Katherine Joyce Still (and Eric Opland), Benjamin Alan (and Jill) Still, and Amelia Jane (and David) Nestler, as well as her sisters, Edith Caroline DeShaw and Ruth Elizabeth DeShaw Robbins, and her grandchildren, Azri-el Isaiah Sellers and Dylan Parker Still, and her great-granddaughter, Calista Star Sellers. She was preceded by her parents, Clarence Alvin and Amy (Brooks) Lunder, and her brother, Clarence Alvin. Jan and Frances met at the climbing club at the University of Washington, summited many mountains together, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2015. Frances will be remembered for her love of Alaska, travel, hiking and skiing. Her greatest achievement was climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with her daughter Kathy and grandson Az. A celebration of life will be held at the Douglas Community United Methodist Church on September 10th, from 4-7 PM. Please bring a dish to share for the potluck, photos of Frances, and stories to share. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Glory Hole.
