Howard Gray Jr. was a child of the Raven clan, Tak-Tein-taan yadi. He was of the Shark moiety, Wooshkeetan clan, from the Toos Hit. One of seven children born to Jessie and Howard Gray Sr. in Juneau, Alaska October 27, 1933, he went home October 28, 2014 at the age of 81.

Howard never married nor had children. He is preceded in death by his parents Jessie and Howard Gray Sr. and his sisters: Irene Austin and Lila Fawcett and his brother: Gerald Gray Sr. He is survived by his brothers Robert (Jackie) Gray Sr., and Dennis Gray Sr., and his sister; Harriet Knudson. He is also survived by his many, many cousins, nephews and nieces of Metlakatla, Sitka, Hoonah, Yakutat, Kake, Angoon and Juneau.

Howard was known for constantly walking and was missed when his health began to decline and was no longer among the people. He was also known as Hoonah's biggest basketball fan, supporting players no matter the hour or location.

Memorial/Funeral/Graveside Service were held on Friday November 7, 2014 at 10 am at the Hoonah Presbyterian Church.
