James Daniel (Dan) King Jr. died peacefully at his home in Wasilla, on June 20th 2011.
Born on January 13, 1945, in Canton, Ohio. Dan graduated from McKinley High School and joined the United States Air Force. Stationed in Anchorage as a staff sergeant.
Dan left the Air Force and Anchorage to manage Augustus Brown swimming pool. He remained in Juneau for nearly thirty years where he served as a club officer for the Elks Club, president of the Downtown Rotary Club, post officer for the Veterans of Foreign and coached many championship softball teams.
Dan relocated to the Mat-Su Valley in 2000. Wasilla offered good friends and a dynamic community in which to serve.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, James D. King, Sr. and Faye L. King of Canton, Ohio. Dan is survived by his wife, Kathryn, his son Bryan; his granddaughters, Kylie and Katelyn, all of Juneau. His former wife and long-time friend, Jean Culich, of Haines; brothers Richard (Darlynn0 and David of Canton and Daryl of South Carolina, many nephews and nieces and many loving friends.
A celebration of life for his family and friends will be at Pat's Douglas Inn on July 16th at 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the A.S.P.C.A. or AMVETS.
