Long-time resident, Jan Vernon Berg, passed away peacefully in Glendale, Arizona, on March 28, 2013.  He died of natural causes.  Jan was 67 years old and lived most of his life in Juneau.
 
Jan served a Vice-President of Berg Construction for many years in Juneau, and was owner of Sentinel Construction Co. until he retired in 1996.  He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly golfing, fishing, hunting, and was an avid Arizona Diamondbacks fan.  Jan will be fondly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and prowess at the barbecue grill during gatherings with friends, family, and loved ones.
 
Jan is preceeded in death by his parents, Clifford and Patricia Berg of Juneau.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Berg, of Glendale; sons Christopher Berg and wife, Amy McCumber Berg, of Vancouver, WA; Dustin Berg, of Nampa, ID; step-daughters Stacy Eldemar (Patrick Ripp) of Juneau; Katherine Eldemar and Cheryl Eldemar of Juneau; and Dianne Smith (Raymond) of Falls, PA.  Jan and Mary have 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
 
Jan did not wish for services to be held.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Hospice of Arizona Foundation, 19820 N. 7th Ave #130, Phoenix AZ, 85027.
