Jeanete Eileen Henkins peacefully passed away at home in Juneau Saturday July 21st, 2012 with her husband and brother in law near. Jeanete was born in Heppner, Oregon to Josie Louene Peck and Henry Peck on August 21st, 1938. Jeanete married Lester L. Henkins in Mikes Place Restaurant in Douglas, AK on October 24, 1982.
Jeanete was the 6th of 10 children and is survived by her husband of 29 years, Lester (Spike) Henkins, her son Gregg Hughes of Hood River, Oregon and 7 brothers and sisters, Dorothy Tucker of Salem, OR, Ronald Peck Te Dalles, OR, Lyle Peck (Virginia) of Heppner, OR, Burton Peck (Tammy) of Heppner, OR, Martha(Marti) Bernardez (Joe) of Douglas, AK, Raymond Peck (Debbie) of Lexington, OR, two uncles, Don Peck and Bud Peck (Joan), of Pendleton, OR, and brother-in law Dale Henkins (Jerri) of Douglas, AK, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jeanete enjoyed gardening, sewing, and being a seamstress; she worked for the State of Alaska and retired in 2003. In accordance with Jeanete's wishes no services will be held.
