JoAnn Lockwood, 60, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2016, in Juneau, Alaska. JoAnn was born in 1956 in Carmel, California, to Howard Lockwood and Willette Janes. She attended local grade schools and graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School. While attending J-D High she met her future husband David Thomas. They married on July 24, 1986. In October 1989 their son Jarrett was born. A devoted mother she supported her son academically as a home teacher and in her sports career as a professional level skier and skateboarder. During her career she worked for Ann's Junior Shop, as a Dietitian Aid, Office Manager for Moritz Dental, and Administrative Support under her own business "Your Office Assistant." JoAnn was a beauty with a keen mind. A talented athlete, skier, and soccer player. She loved camping and fishing in her skiff. A wonderful homemaker, who created a warm environment full of bright color, lace and art. JoAnn was a sponsor of Children International of the Philippines, and was a strong supporter and advocate for Juneau Therapeutic Court. Survivors include her father Howard Lockwood, son Jarrett Thomas, former husband David Thomas, sister Jenny, brothers Bruce, and Dale Lockwood, nieces and nephew, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins. She was preceded in death by her Mother Willette Janes. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who loved her unconditionally. May she rest in peace.
